Google awarded Africa 118 the Most Accurate Forecast Award at the Johannesburg 2018 summit held between the 23rd and 25th April 2018. The award was given based on our accuracy in forecasting the expected numbers to train on a quarterly basis in the past year. We have consistently and successfully achieved and surpassed given targets hence the award. The Company was represented in South Africa by our very own: Fred Imbo – Project Lead and Judith Nduku, Phillip Nyakwaka, Euniver Njeri and Joyce Okwako – Google Digital Skills trainers.
On April 12th, 2016 Google announced its commitment to training one million young people in Africa on digital skills as part of its contribution to growing Africa’s digital economy.
11 months down the line, the target had been met and further recommitted to training 10 million more within the next five years, 2017 – 2021. Africa 118 has been tasked with training Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) all over Kenya. So far, we have managed to train over 84,000 MSMEs and plan to train even more to ensure that the many upcoming businesses can take full advantage of the online presence to grow even bigger and better.
As the program is a 5-year plan, Africa118 plans to give much impact to MSMEs through the Google digital skills program. We wish to equip MSMEs with technical skills and knowledge that help them leverage the power of the web and online tools for online visibility, digital marketing, and effectiveness.
We regularly hold free training in 12 counties within Kenya: Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Kakamega, Busia, Bungoma, Vihiga, Kisii, Kericho, Eldoret, and Machakos. Entrepreneurs and MSMEs owners interested in this training should grab the opportunity to learn more.
